Welcome!

Kellie McCants was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in the south (Arkansas and Virginia). Kellie's parents are both educators, her father, Dr. Gerald McCants earned his doctorate in Education and worked in University Administration; and her mother, Phyllis Dowling-McCants, from St. George's, Bermuda, has taught at every level from elementary school to university. Growing up Kellie's family supported her creative spirit and continues to encourage her artistic journey. To maintain balance in an often times unpredictable career path, Kellie aims for diligence and grounding in her spiritual practice; and enjoys expanding her knowledge on various subjects from psychology, holistic health to real estate. Putting her beliefs into action as an animal advocate (and vegetarian since age 15), upon graduating from university, Kellie interned and lived on a farm in Northern California enhancing her skills as an animal caregiver at the respected Farm Sanctuary.

Classical roles include: Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet and Tieresias in Oedipus Rex. Kellie played the role of Soledad, a young woman reclaiming control of her life, in tender at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and 59E59 Theater. Other Off-Broadway credits include performing at The Cherry Lane Theatre/studio as Beth, the smart-mouthed best friend, in When Santo Domingo Isn’t Enough in the Downtown Urban Theatre Festival’s winner of “Best New Play”; and Rebecca Primus in Letters which Ms. McCants co-authored as part of the Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Octoberfest. She has also had the pleasure of working with Geoffrey Owens of The Cosby Show, whom directed her as Eloise, the domestic wife, in Cinnamon. On-camera, Kellie has starred in Carrku Gbain's independent film, Soliloquy, as Claudia, the professional woman overcoming the loneliness of single life. Kellie shot the pilot presentation of Spike Lee’s protegee, Michael “Boogie” Pinckney’s Police Women: Life with a Badge where she played Officer Lewis. Kellie has also been the lead in several independent shorts by filmmaker Chriss Williams.
